In my 12 years of working years, I have changed 6 jobs (2 manufacturing, 4 software development and 1 Presales support). On average every 2 years, 1 new job.
Through all these job hopping, I finally realized that when you change job, you must know 2 things:
1) What you want for achieve in your life?
2) Does your new job in line with what you want to achieve?
If you cannot answer the above questions that your new job will not have much impact of improving your life.
Common scenario people changes job is because they got bored of their current job. They start looking for a new job and as they higher income, due to experience the jobs they looked are usually similar to what they are doing now. Yes, they do end up finding a new job with higher salary. However, their interest in the new job short lived because other than different environment their job nature is still the same. In other words, they are still in square one.
For those people who are looking for new jobs, answer the above questions first. The decision maybe tough initially but finally you will achieved what you want in life.
